I’m grateful for the Crossover Leadership Development program during the summer because it takes me out of the streets.
My Name is Justin and I am in 9th grade at East Aurora High School I live in Aurora with my sister and my mom. My favorite hobbies are playing basketball and fixing houses. When I finish high school I want to go to college. When I grow up I want to be a basketball player or a real estate agent because those are the things that make me happy. I started coming to camp at Riverwoods when I was 10 years old
I’m grateful for the Crossover Leadership Development program during the summer because it takes me out of the streets. If it wasn’t for the teen program I would have been going in the wrong direction and I like that we go to UNITE at Impact Church. They helped me get closer to GOD and help me understand more about HIM. When I am at Riverwoods I feel safe and I feel great. I feel like God is watching over me and blessing me everyday. My summer camp experience helps me to grow by being responsible, respectful, and patient. Riverwoods helps me to grow by being a leader.
My best memory from coming to camp as a child is the water park because I hardly went swimming. The best part of this summer for me has been getting to meet more people.
This summer we visited businesses, Feed My Starving Children and a college. I liked this because when I went to visit the Holiday Inn (Hotel) I learned that there’s a lot more jobs at hotels than I expected. When I went to visit the animal hospital I learned that jobs shouldn’t be about the amount of money that you get, but it’s the job that you will be happy with. This summer we went to Feed My Starving Children, While I was there I felt great for helping the starving children. When I went to visit Northern Illinois University, I felt like I will be something great one day.
Overall my summer experience has had a great impact in my life. This summer I have learned that GOD is always here for us whenever we need him.
