Can you partner with us

for Summer Camp 2020?

Dear FVCA Family,

We are so grateful for your faithful support both financially and in prayer! We continue to praise God for each of you as we see your gifts coming in to support the ministry of FVCA, and we are very grateful for all of you who are consistently praying for us.  I hope that you and your family are safe and well – I know this is a challenging time for all of us as we work through the impacts of Covid-19.

This has been a very stressful season for many of the families that we serve. Imagine the added challenges right now for larger families living in smaller homes or apartments.  Add to that the financial stress of jobs that have been lost or “interrupted,” and all of the kids have been stuck at home for weeks, which is stressful for the kids and parents.  Imagine how much more stressful that will be another month from now.

For 43 years, FVCA has provided summer camp and school year opportunities for some of our most vulnerable youth in the Fox Valley.  Each summer FVCA provides a free overnight camp experience or extended leadership program for 700-800 children and teens from local, under-resourced communities.  All of us have experienced many challenges this spring and we know that this summer will be an incredibly important ministry opportunity. Because we are always committed to the health and safety of our kids, we may need to modify how we serve kids and families this summer.

We’re preparing many alternative plans for summer ministry; alternatives like “home summer camp kits” where FVCA and our church partners could provide games, activities, arts & crafts supplies, Bible lessons, small sports equipment, snacks, and maybe even a new sleeping bag for each child, delivered to their home or apartment!  If conditions this summer limit the number of kids that we can bring to camp, then maybe we can take camp to them and share the Gospel of Jesus in a creative way!

We’re working on many alternatives right now.  We’re talking with community contacts and church partners.  We’re also surveying the needs of our community families to make sure that the alternative plans we develop will be helpful and meaningful to our families.

Thank you for your faithful partnership in ministry!
